Use Value Appraisal Plan Compliance

land managementLand Management:

Use Value Appraisal Management Plan implementation by Vermont L.E.A.P certified harvesting professionals. We will implement current Management Plans put in place to comply with state Current Use taxation program or have one of our licensed foresters design a new management plan for the purpose of enrolling in Current Use.

While many Current Use Management plans focus heavily on large scale harvesting, we specialize in low impact methods that follow the Management Plan with minimal visual impact and focus on wildlife habitat improvement.

We offer an alternative to large machinery and high impact timber harvests. By not being driven by production and prices, we free ourselves to work when seasonal conditions are at their best. Improving habitat, the health of the forest eco-system, and the quality of our customer’s outdoor experience are our primary objectives.

Past projects include:

TRAILS: Map and build trails for hiking and cross country skiing

ORCHARDS: Release and prune heirloom apple & fruit trees so they will produce fruit and provide soft mast feed for deer, song birds, and other wildlife

HABITAT: Perform small prescribed patch cuts to create cover, create snag trees for habitat, or drumming structures for ruffed grouse

ECO-SYSTEM PRESERVATION: Manage invasive plant species

HARVESTING: Perform harvesting and timber stand improvement in a low impact manner so that fragile soils are protected. Special attention to streams so they are protected with a buffer zone to prevent erosion as well as avoid water temperature increases

FIELDS & PASTURES: Reclaim and maintain old fields and overgrown pastures to promote open feeding areas for wildlife as well as nesting cover for birds
